Best Dressed Female Celebs At The Cannes Film Festival 2016
Hello blogosphere,
It is the exam season for most university students right now in the UK, so good luck to everyone! I've already had 3 of my exams, only 1 to go. Hallelujah! I cannot wait until university is officially over for the year, nearly 4 months of Summer! To be honest, I'm slacking with revision anyway, but I don't want to stress myself out so I'm taking a break. What's better than browsing the fashion news? Well, don't answer that, I can think of a few things.
This year's Cannes Film Festival is not only celebrating the upcoming films people have devoted so much time to but it is also revealed more stunning looks on the red carpet. From the dress to the hair to the accessories, some celebrities hit the nail on the head and dazzled for the right reasons. What many people forget though is these red carpet looks are usually put together by a stylist who doesn't get the recognition they deserve. The fashion designers are usually acknowledged, but who put the look together? The celebrities look great, but I would like to see more stylists get attention.
Julia Roberts and Kristen Stewart are amongst the few celebrities who threw the rules out of the window this year. Kristen Stewart decided to wear flat shoes to one of the premiers, which is usually a no no for this festival. Women were actually turned away last year for not wearing heels. Whether this was a decision based on protest or comfort, she wore heels for her first look and looked more confident than I have seen her look in a long time. In contrast, Julia Roberts just did not bother wearing any shoes at all. That's right, she went barefoot. She looked extremely happy though and every picture showed a natural smile.

Before I go off on a tangent, like I always do, I am going to reveal my favourite looks at the festival so far:
Blake Lively looks absolutely stunning in this Vivienne Westwood dress, a real Belle of the ball. It is a complete Cinderella look with her hair tied up away from her face and her unusual stilettos keep the look fun and interesting. As the dress is such a statement piece, I think the lack of jewellery works really well. You wouldn't look at her and think she's pregnant right?
Yeah it's Blake Lively again, but I couldn't not include this look as well. The dress speaks for itself and it is a whole different look to the Cinderella look. She looks gorgeous as always. I prefer this dress to the other one she wore but I love the playful aspect of the first look. She also wore a cute blue fitted gown that was absolutely stunning.
Hofit Golan looks incredible in her floor length gown fit for the spotlight. This fit and flare style is extremely flattering and has a slight vintage look to the shape. Playful and eye-catching, this dress definitely has my attention.
Mallika Sherawat graced the red carpet with this gorgeous blue strapless mermaid gown. The necklace is a nice touch and makes her look even more expensive. She looks like royalty under the sea.
This look is by Aishwarya Rai. She stunned in a gorgeous full length blush gown with a long flowing cape around the back. The bright eye-shadow is not my favourite addition to the look but she still looks like a royal goddess and she owned the red carpet like a catwalk.
Amal Clooney looks classically beautiful in her Atelier Versace dress with its dare-to-bare high split and flattering one shoulder. It is perfectly styled in my opinion. She looks like she walked straight out of an old movie.
Araya A. Hargate's smile is her best accessory. She looks amazing in her floor length full pink gown. Not only is it very unusual, but she has styled it exactly how I would. Hair up with minimal jewellery and accessories so the focus is on the dress.
This is another classic look by Jessica Chastain. Her Autumn hair and golden dress go hand in hand. The look is extremely effortless but very pretty, though it is minimal.
Nicole Warne's look is simpler than many of the others on the red carpet but that doesn't make it any less impressive. The matching lipstick and clutch round this look off perfectly. It's dramatic in the right way.
I'm not convinced this is enough for a red carpet look but either way I think Victoria Beckham looks stunning. The outfit is very flattering and creates a feminine shape but it is also very strong and empowering. She looks like someone not to mess with, I like it. I think the addition of dangle or hoop earrings would have made this look complete, or a crystal necklace or choker..
Back to pretending to revise I guess...
