Best Performances At The Billboad Music Awards 2016
Hello :)
The Billboard Music Awards was a great show as always. I love watching music award shows. It was hosted by Ciara and Ludacris this year and they kept the momentum going throughout. I'd love to see Ciara present another awards show, she was great. Ludacris has done it before so I already knew he was good, but he didn't disappoint. The performances were fun and very varied, some better then others of course. I'm disappointed that a lot of the same people kept getting nominated though. It's nice when you see a bigger percentage of the music industry get the recognition they deserve.
Britney Spears opened the show with an overly choreographed medley of her songs. There's no denying she can perform but it would have been nice to hear her sing as oppose to mime. Ariana Grande, on the other hand, gave a great performance of 'Dangerous Woman' and 'Into You' that consisted of both singing and dancing. It was choreographed but flowed nicely, she didn't dance too much to stop herself from singing. Her vocals were far from disappointing on the track as well. Check it out here:
The performance that really wowed me though was from Shawn Mendes. He gave an honest and truly beautiful performance. I never realised how good a singer he is until then. I was mesmerised from the beginning to the end and I actually like the song now. He performed a stripped down version of his hit 'Stitches' on a mellow set with rain and thunder effects. Drama. Check it out here:
The next performance I have to talk about is Demi Lovato's vocal powerhouse of 'Cool For The Summer'. She belted out every single word, no one can deny her singing ability. If I had her voice I would sing even more than I do now, so my neighbours would hate me even more. It was the complete opposite to Shawn Mendes' performance, loud and full of energy, but I loved it! That was a performance I will not be forgetting in a hurry. Check it out here:
Rihanna gave a surprisingly raw performance. I was expecting dancing and sexiness in (dare I say it) skimpy clothing but instead she sang from her heart and really connected with the audience. It wasn't for show, the stage wasn't explosive, it was amazing and extremely memorable. I forgot she could sing like that as well. Go Rihanna! Check it out here:
