World Championship in Moscow
Okay, so I'm sure all of you who read my blog are familiar with my interest in Athletics. I'm still sad about the results for the men's relay 4x100m in Moscow. Team GB did so well but they got DISQUALIFIED!! All that hard work only for their bronze medals to be taken. Cruel. Adam Gemili especially deserved a medal after his impressive season (running his two fastest times ever and running an awesome first leg for the relay). To make matters worse, USA were NOT disqualified even though they also broke the rules by running out of their lane! They managed to keep hold of their silver medals (though they ran expertly, it's very unfair). Jamaica ACED it though!!! All four athletes bolted down the lane in a bid to get the gold, which they did easily. As always, Usain Bolt was the star of the show, creating that huge gap in the home run, but the rest of the team were amazing and should never be undervalued!
All of the events were great! Gold medalists were forced to work harder to maintain their positions and other athletes climbed to the top, making a name for themselves. It was unpredictable and I loved every second of it, except the moment just after the men's 100m final when Christophe Lemaitre was carried off on a stretcher! It broke my heart! Poor guy tore a hamstring right in the midst of the excitement! I can imagine how much pain he was going through. Awww! I hope he recovers from it soon, but doesn't force it better. He's had a great season. Whilst I'm on the topic, did you notice the amount of athletes who got injured on that track? Damn!
The favourite to win the men's 110m hurdles, Aries Merritt, was struggling with his injury beforehand but decided to run anyway. Coming sixth (or fifth) was probably disappointing for him and it shocked the presenters, but I think that's good! Even getting into the final is a massive accomplishment, especially with an injury! But I have to put my hands together for the gold medalist, David Oliver. He was hungry for gold and earned it with his brilliant performance. He's a shining star and I can't wait to see what times he's gonna come out with in the future.
One of the highlights was when the presenters spoke to Yohan Blake. I felt so sorry for him, just having to sit there and watch when you want to be part of the action. He looked good though (so good!). Here's a random clip of him you don't want to miss:
So, the 2013 championship overall was really good, although Christophe had to pull out of any other events he wanted to do, Yohan wasn't able to participate and Kirani James lost! That was a total shock, but he'll regain his number one title soon. He's an amazing 400m sprinter, amongst the best for sure!
