James Bond Is Back And...Black
Hello,
So personally I'm not a big fan of James Bond, at all, but I'm curious now they've decided to have a black Bond. Awesome right?! Finally a different ethnicity is the face of the massive film. I love seeing different cultures and ethnicities represented in the media; it reminds me of the modern world we live in and I love it!
They've gone with David Oyelowo, who played Martin Luther King Jr in Selma. Although I think he'd make a good Bond I'm disappointed they didn't go with Idris Elba. When people were throwing his name around I got so excited. From Luther to James Bond, that's a transition I would've loved to see. He's a very established actor as well, but Oyelowo has definitely made his mark in the industry as well. I heard they considered Elba 'too street' for the role which I thought was just a brush off for him being black. Guess I was wrong.
Staying on the topic of James Bond, have you heard the latest theme song? Sam Smith's writing's on the wall has been a massive hit already. It certainly did resonate with me when I first heard it, I nearly cried. It's a very emotional song, or maybe it's just his gorge voice. For some reason though I thought they'd want a more upbeat or happier song. But Skyfall's theme song has the same sad feel. James Bond is definitely not an upbeat film; the soundtracks say it all.
I am very interested to see the new James Bond film though. Skyfall was good so let's see what this new edition has to offer. Here's to hoping it's better than ever.
