The European Athletics Team Championship
The athletics was nothing short of entertainment as always. The smart compilation of races over the two days kept viewers excited and on the edge of their seats. With some expert athletes getting beaten to gold and some newbies setting the pace, it was unpredictable as per usual. I loved seeing the different countries work as a team, especially team GB who did very well. Each member was as important as the last, no matter what event they took part in. I'd love to be part of that, but me and sports are not a good match!
I'm not going to lie and say I enjoyed every single second because I did get a little bored at times, but I'm easily bored so it's not an insult to the production team (or anyone else...). Maybe I just missed the rest of it, but I'm a little sad that it only lasted for two days. I only saw the mens 200m heats! What about the final?! That takes me onto the highlight of the two days (seriously though, was it only 2 days?). There were loads of great races, but my favourite was the second mens 200m heat where a certain underrated French sprinter took first place. Do I really need to say his name? I'm sure all you athletics fans already know, but for those who don't: Christophe Lemaitre! He's awesome! The best European sprinter! Ever! He came sixth in London 2012 against all the powerballs (Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake, etc), that's amazing. He's just as good as Justin Gatlin and should definitely be seen as a threat for the top spots because I know he can do it. He's proved time and time again that he has the strength and power to go faster and compete. The way he speeds up when he nears the finish line is amazing. Whether he gets a good start or not, he always has a great finish. That to me is a great sprinter.
Because I'm such a nice person I've included the link for the race so you all can see it: 200m mens heat 2. I can't attach it directly onto this post sadly. You're welcome :) The poor guys have to sprint (not even jog) in pouring rain, yet they still get amazing times. I would've finished with my great time of 50.5 seconds lol. Seriously though, I'd suggest that if you don't want to watch the whole of the video you should watch from 3:11 because it shows the race in slow motion. Okay, that's kind of a lie. It shows Christophe running the race in slow motion, in the rain...
He's so hot.
